FAQ's
Question: Can you fix a cracked windscreen without replacing it?
Answer: In many cases the answer is yes. There are however a set of guidelines issued by the LTSA which stipulate what is acceptable & what is not acceptable for a repair. Generally speaking we can repair up to the size of a 20 cent coin, in most areas of the windscreen, and cracks on the passenger side of the windscreen up to 300 mm.( 1 foot ). Once repaired, we will issue you with a repair certificate of compliance. This will verify to any WOF agent, that the windscreen has been professionally repaired & in accordance with the law.
Question: I have windscreen Insurance, can you bill my Insurance Company?
Answer: We are able to direct bill most insurance companies, if your windscreen is covered by insurance. We simply need your insurance policy or claim number. We will gain authorisation for a repair on your behalf.
Question: I have been asked for my Chassis or frame number - what is this?
Answer: This a number given by by the manufacturer of the vehicle, and helps repairers find the correct part for your vehicle. This number is usually found in the engine bay stamped onto the body of the vehicle.
To find the chassis or frame number:
- Lift the bonnet of the vehicle, place on rod-holder for safety.
- Look at the wall behind the motor (this is often referred to as the "firewall" and is the wall that separates the engine bay, and the vehicles dashboard in the cabin.)
- The chassis number will in almost all cases be in the middle, at the top of the firewall stamped in the same colour as the paintwork.
NOTE: You may need to wipe away any dirt that has accumulated there to correctly read the chassis number.
